Seven Programmes. Zero Cost to Participants.

Our Activities

Each programme exists because someone walked through our door without knowing what came next — and left with a path forward.

What We Run

Programmes Built Around Dignity

Since 2011, Anaya Jothi Charitable Trust has run seven core programmes targeting the deepest needs of Chennai's underserved communities — from basic hunger and education to long-term economic independence and mental wellness. Every programme is free. Every participant is treated with respect. And every outcome we aim for is one that lasts.

Beauty Courses

She came to us with nothing but capability. She left with a professional certificate, a set of tools, and a clientele that was already forming. Our free beauty training programme covers hair care, skincare, nail art, and beauty therapy — disciplines that translate directly into self-employment or salon jobs within weeks of graduation. For many women, it is the first time they have ever held a professional qualification. The transformation is not cosmetic. It is structural.

"I now earn ₹12,000 a month from my home parlour. Before the course, I earned nothing." — Programme graduate

Hunger Food Programme

A child who goes to school hungry cannot learn. A construction worker who skips lunch cannot concentrate. An elderly woman who has no one to cook for her should not have to sleep on an empty stomach. Our Hunger Food Programme is our oldest, most fundamental commitment — warm, nutritious meals provided to families, daily-wage workers, street dwellers, and the elderly who cannot reliably feed themselves. Food is not charity here. It is a right. And we deliver it with the respect that right deserves.

"On days my father doesn't get work, the Foundation's meal means my brothers and I still eat dinner." — Beneficiary, age 14

School Fee Assistance

₹2,000 is not a large number to many people. But to a family surviving on daily wages, it is the difference between a child in school and a child out of one. Our school fee assistance programme covers tuition and associated costs at government and public schools for children from economically disadvantaged households. We have seen children who were withdrawn from school due to fee arrears return to class within a week of our intervention — and we have seen those children go on to careers their parents never imagined. That is the compounding effect of keeping one child in school.

Skill Development Programme

Potential without access is invisible. Our skill development programme provides vocational training across disciplines with genuine, local job market demand: tailoring, computer literacy, electrical wiring, and more. Courses are designed with employers and are built to produce ready-to-hire graduates, not just certificate holders. For participants who have never had a formal skill, the programme provides what no academic degree can: a direct, immediate path from training to income.

"Within three months of completing the tailoring course, I had orders. Within six months, I had a waiting list." — Graduate

Career Counselling

Many young people in underserved communities possess talent in abundance but have never spoken to someone who could help them understand what their talent is worth or how to present it to the world. Our career counselling sessions — both one-on-one and in groups — help young people map their strengths, research career pathways, prepare for interviews, navigate higher education applications, and make informed decisions about their futures. For those who arrive without a plan and leave with one, the change is immediate and visible.

Communication Guidance

In a competitive job market, the gap between a qualified candidate and a hired one is often communication. Our communication guidance programme trains participants in spoken English, professional vocabulary, interview etiquette, public speaking, and interpersonal skills that employers notice. For first-generation graduates and rural-to-urban migrants, this programme bridges a gap that no technical qualification can. Confidence is teachable. And when it is taught, it changes everything.

Health Activities

Communities that cannot afford to visit a hospital deserve healthcare that comes to them. Our health activities include regular free medical check-up camps, nutrition awareness drives, hygiene education, and mental health counselling sessions — delivered in partnership with doctors and healthcare professionals who believe in our mission. We pay particular attention to women's health, child nutrition, and the often-invisible burden of mental health in poverty-affected communities. Prevention is care. Awareness is medicine. And everyone deserves both.

Every programme. Every time. Free.

We do not means-test participation. We do not rank needs. We do not charge fees, ask for documentation, or require community connections. If you need help — or if you want to give it — you are welcome here. Our programmes exist entirely because of donors, volunteers, and the generosity of ordinary people who believe in what we are doing. Join them.

These programmes run because people like you show up
