One Tree. One Promise. A Million Roots.
Tamil Nadu's ancient Palmyra is disappearing. ₹999 plants one, pairs it with a guardian family, and sends you GPS-verified proof every month — for life.
Tamil Nadu's Ancient Tree
The Palmyra palm — Borassus flabellifer, the panai maram — is not merely Tamil Nadu's state tree. It is the spine of a civilisation that has endured for three thousand years.
Its roots hold the laterite soil together where monsoons would otherwise strip entire hillsides bare. Its presence raises the water table beneath it, feeding wells in a three-hundred-metre radius. A single mature palm provides fruit, sap, leaf, and timber — twelve distinct products that have sustained rural Tamil families through drought, famine, and flood since antiquity.
And yet we have lost more than sixty percent of Tamil Nadu's Palmyra population in a single generation. Urbanisation, agricultural monoculture, and neglect have all but erased a tree that once stood as the defining symbol of this land — its silhouette on the Tamil Sangam seal, its sap in every village festival cup, its leaves in the hands of every child who learned to write.
There is a Tamil proverb that says, "You don't plant a palm for yourself." You plant it for your grandchildren's children. For the well that will not run dry in 2060. For the family that will sell its fruit and its toddy and its wood and need nothing else to live with dignity.
The Palmyra is not just a tree. It is a civilisation. And we are asking you to help us bring it back.

The Numbers Speak
Not Just Palms
The 1mp.space initiative plants thirteen native Tamil Nadu species across 38 districts. Each one selected for its ecological role, its cultural significance, and its ability to sustain the families who tend it.
Seven more native species available on 1mp.space — each chosen for ecological resilience and economic benefit to guardian families.
"Every palm we plant is a promise to a child not yet born — that they will have shade, water, and food from a land their ancestors tended."— Anaya Jothi Foundation
